School award for most impressive cross-curricular approach

PFE at Corseford involves Enterprise, Citizenship, Personal and Social Development, independence skills, basic numeracy and Maths and is embedded in the ethos of the school, where they consider it to be a vital part of learning. This learning shows that money has value, needs to be kept safely and there are consequences if it is lost or stolen. This is achieved by:

  • Every class running at least one enterprise project annually, allowing students to make decisions about how to finance these and what to do with profits.
  • Post-sixteen students are given responsibility for running the school shop, after having applied for and been interviewed and successfully selected for the role.

psu_wall Judges found this programme genuinely cross-curricular, with evidence of appropriate assessment and a well-managed timetable. They praised its real-world connection and the fact that it was hands-on with clear targets for both teachers and learners.
