School award for best all-round approach to PFE
Abercorn Secondary demonstrated an all-round commitment to PFE involving students and parents. PFE at Abercorn is delivered through a number of initiatives, such as a Financial Education Day where both students and parents participate in financial workshops and drop-in advice sessions. Abercorn tries to involve relevant external agencies in these days, and previous involvement has come from the police, Carphone Warehouse and Learning and Teaching Scotland.
The judges were impressed that this programme was prepared to reach out to the whole community and used outside agencies and external expertise effectively. Their approach really made PFE relevant to the students, and the involvement of parents was particularly impressive for the judges to see.
