School award for best all-round approach to PFE
At Hedingham School, PFE is embedded in personal curriculum programmes across the school. These inclusive events for students of all abilities are part of personal social and health education (PSHE), careers education, work-related learning and enterprise education. Hedingham School’s PFE programme gives students opportunities to explore personal, business and some aspects of international finance. They offer a range of activities and opportunities to students, including:
- students in year 10 playing a board game in groups which looks at the realities of budgeting when living away from home
- a year 9 enterprise day where sixth-form students act as mentors to year 9 students who work in groups to
- working with a local restaurant to give a hands-on view of finance within the catering industry.
Judges were impressed by the effective and imaginative use of existing resources and by the involvement of different age groups to engage students across various year groups.
