Primary award
This new category is open to schools and individual teachers teaching pupils of primary school age
Do your pupils know why money is important? Does your primary school have an exciting and engaging approach to teaching pupils about money, its value and uses?
We’re looking for schools and teachers who have raised the profile of teaching money matters in their school.
The award recognises the efforts of those primary schools and teachers who have made a successful, exciting and/or innovative contribution to personal finance education (PFE), enabling pupils to understand why money is important in their lives and their communities.
What are we looking for?
Here are just a few suggestions of initiatives which would be suitable for entry – but your idea could be completely different! Perhaps you, your department or your school has:
- devised a successful cross-curricular project centred on investigating money. You had great feedback from the children, other staff or parents about the quality of the learning. You may even have an idea about how to develop the project next time.
- run inset training for your school or a school partnership on teaching money and personal finance to primary-aged children.
- offered a range of activities for a special event such as a ‘money week’ or Fairtrade fortnight, and the results prove that the children moved forward in their learning about money.
- devised a special resource to help pupils get to grips with money matters.
