Students
Are you fanatical about finance? Is your investment in personal finance education at your school paying off? Do your friends now know more about looking after their money?
If you’ve had a leading role in a project about money and personal finance that has really taken off and made an impact you could enter the RBS Personal Finance Education Awards for Schools 2010.
We’re looking for students who have made the extra effort to develop an idea into something impressive. It could be just you, a partnership with someone else or a group of you.
What’s in it for me?
There are great prizes up for grabs:
- The overall winner(s) will win £1,500 for their school, and two runners up will win £500 for their school
- There will also be exciting prizes for the individual winner(s) and runners up
- All winner and runners up will win a special day out in London for the award ceremony.
Is this you?
Did you start from an idea that you heard about in school? Maybe you took part in a money lesson which inspired you to take the lead and develop the idea further.
Here are just a few examples of work which could be entered, but your project could be completely different:
- Helping younger pupils to run a school bank
- Designing a game about personal budgeting for the school website
- Running a fair trade stall
- Inventing and producing a board game about savings
- Writing and performing a play or making a film about borrowing
How do I enter?
Your teacher will have to nominate you and write a short supporting statement.
What do I have to do?
- Complete a simple online entry form to tell us what you’ve done. Ask your teacher for login details. You need to click on ‘update your entry’.
- It will help the judges if you include the following information:
- A summary which describes your project, for example:
We thought it would be a great idea to help our old primary school to start a school bank like ours. We wrote to the Head Teacher and she asked us to visit the school and tell her our ideas. Then we told the kids about it in assembly. They were keen so we put together a rota of volunteers…
- Who took part, what they did and when they did it
- How you think your idea has made an impact
- How it could be developed in the future
- How your PFE learning at school helped you in the first place
- What you have learned
- Why you think you should win an award.
The deadline for entries is Friday, 23rd April 2010.
When will I know if I’ve won an award?
The judging will take place in May.
We’ll get in touch with your teacher if you’ve won. Good luck!
